Russian Pupil Vera Trains With the Best at Golden Swing La Herreria
31-01-2012Golden Swing La Herreria Golf Academy has been a busy place during the last month, the fantastic January weather has meant that pre season training is in full swing, and two Golden Swing La Herreria girl pupils have been making the most of it.
Vera Markevich, who is ranked second Russian Under 14 girl, has moved to Spain to work full time with Academy Director Martin Cummins. Vera has a structured training programme which includes more than 25 hours per week of lesson, mental coaching and practice time, as well as play, and already she has been making a large impact around the club. Now fully federated in Spain Vera’s schedule includes tournaments in Spain before returning to Russia for the summer to hopefully win the Russian Under 14’s title and more.
It is important to practice and play with players of the highest standard, and here at Golden Swing players of all abilities come for their coaching. This week Vera was joined by Georgia Hall, a long time pupil of Martin. Georgia, former England Under 13’s and Under 15’s champion, and at 15 years old is a full England international with a handicap of plus 2. Georgia, who has just been named 1st reserve for the Great Britain and Ireland Curtis Cup squad, continued her build up for the new season with a week at La Herreria with Martin and Vera. Vera had the chance play and practice with Georgia this week, and to experience what it takes to play international level golf.
Obviously the facilities at Golden Swing La Herreria (as with all our academies) offer the opportunity to obtain information, and coach to the very highest levels, and both Georgia and Vera made full use of the Dartfish video analysis, SAM Balance and Puttlab and the Flightscope launch monitor.
The ‘practice rounds’ were very keenly contested with Vera showing that she had learnt greatly from the week. Both girls are well on course for a fantastic 2012, and with the continued support of Martin, and all the staff at Golden Swing La Herreria, we are sure that they will fulfil all their goals for the coming season
