Viipurin Golf Academy in Lappeenranta, Finland opens with a splash!
01-08-2009Golden Swing`s latest academy officially opened on the 17th July. The very popular water range and state of the art teaching facilities were loved by all 250 guests who attended the grand opening. Golfers could not wait to start firing balls at the 5 floating greens and with the lake backdrop you knew why it will be popular. The non golfers also were excited to see such a well equipped academy headed by Golden Swing`s resident Finnish Head Professional Jussi Helkala.
The opening day welcomed members and guests to play in a 9-hole Texas scramble competition which was followed by drinks and food in the club house. In attendance were Vasco Morais (Director of Viipurin Golf Academy), Jussi Helkala, Ryan Parfett (Head Professional of Golden Swing Golf Academies) and Ostap Lukyanov (General Manager of Golden Swing), who all offered a warm welcome to club members and visitors alike and proceeded to present the tournament prizes of which the winners were: David Oswald, Jukka Suninen, Tapio Piili, Jani Kivakka.
The amazing set up at Viipurin Golf Academy is a 9-hole golf course around the lake, a superb short game practice area with putting green and a separate chipping and pitching area. The range itself is set with 10 undercover bays and 9 outside bays with the fantastic option of an artificial fairway hitting area in front of the bays when weather permits. This area will provide a very realistic practice experience and avoid injury from the enthusiastic golfers. All in all a very successful opening and we wish all involved all the best in the future success of Golden Swing Viipurin Golf Academy.
